Most Crafters Are
Multi-Talented

Usually crafters have dabbled in a number of other pursuits in addition the "current passion" which presently consumes their  time, interest and crafting budget.

Recently needle works have been showing up in wrapping paper, cards and other projects.

Interesting as they are to look at, we aren't sure we'd be happy putting this much work into gift wrap..........only to see it ripped off a package and "tossed."

But...........they ARE dramatic, good looking.

The same idea applied to cards works well.

The heart is a reminder of "string art" as much as embroidery.

Even much simpler versions work well.
Hearts seem to look good no matter what!

Arlene Faber has long been combining stamping/card making with her needle tatting skills.

<<<<<<<<<   Here her tatting works perfectly on the bottom of the bride's skirt.
And here she adds a blossom to a card with stamped leaves                                      .>>>>>>>

What are your favorite crafting combinations?
Please share samples!!!

Yogi writes that she likes adding quilling to her cards.

Quilled Shamrock

From Michelle:

Here are some cards that were made using a horribly damaged antique piece of crewel work. The whole piece had never been completely
finished and I simply cold not just throw it out, so much love and time had been put into it by someone!

So, voila! I made as many cards from it as I could!

What a great idea!

  1. And Charlotte neglected to mention that those leaves are one of her carved stamps.

  3. These cards are so cool and the wrapping, while I understand your concerns about being thrown, could be re-purposed after the unwrapping of the gift :) I will send a few pics of some re-purposed crewel work and see what you think!
    Thanks, Michelle
